BTS is still on hiatus, as several of its seven members continue to fulfill their mandatory military service in South Korea. Some have completed their time, while others remain enlisted, leaving the group unable to reunite in the studio, at least for the time being.
Despite this pause, the band’s devoted fanbase has continued to consume the septet’s music. Listeners keep streaming, buying, and supporting the band’s already-popular releases, keeping the band’s name alive on various charts week after week. This time around, the K-pop favorites double up on one ranking and match with several other powerhouses on a tally the boy band has dominated many times before.
BTS Earns Multiple Wins on the World Albums Chart
BTS manages to double its total number of current wins on the World Albums chart, the Billboard tally that has long been a home for K-pop acts. The band fills two of the 25 available spaces on the list, which ranks the bestselling albums in the U.S. that are largely performed in a language other than English or Spanish.
The group’s compilation Proof improves this frame, climbing from No. 9 to No. 7. At the same time, an older release, Love Yourself: Tear, finds its way back to the ranking. That full-length reenters the chart at No. 23.
Both BTS Albums Are Former No. 1s
Neither of BTS’s present albums are new to the World Albums chart, and both have already spent time at No. 1. BTS has conquered the roster with many efforts throughout the years, and Proof and Love Yourself: Tear are among the most successful.
Between the two, Love Yourself: Tear is the longer-charting. That project has now spent 208 weeks on the list, while Proof — a compilation made up of previous hits, fan favorites, and a few new cuts — has thus far racked up 147 frames on the tally.
Proof and Love Yourself: Tear
Released in 2022, Proof arrived as something of a celebration of BTS’s incredible career up to that point. The triple-disc set includes dozens of songs from throughout the band’s run, as well as a few fresh additions like “Yet to Come (The Most Beautiful Moment),” which served as its lead single – and almost cracked the Hot 100’s top 10.
Love Yourself: Tear predates Proof by several years, as it arrived in 2018. The effort became a pivotal release for the band, featuring smash hits like “Fake Love,” which helped solidify BTS’s power and popularity in America, and earned the group the first-ever K-pop No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
BTS Matches Stray Kids and Le Sserafim
Only a few acts manage to claim more than one spot on the World Albums chart this week, and BTS ranks among them. The band joins three other musical names that fill a pair of positions apiece: fellow K-pop outfits Le Sserafim and Stray Kids, and Afrobeats icon Wizkid.
