Carrie Underwood is getting ready to take over judging duties on American Idol, as she’s the latest addition to the panel. The country singer—and one of the most successful winners from the reality TV staple—is set to fill Katy Perry’s seat, which she vacated to promote her new album 143 and tour the project.
Ahead of Underwood’s debut as a judge on the singing competition series, which will return in March of 2025, she’s still producing music. The country favorite has shared several new songs throughout 2024, and many of them have become hits. Two of her most popular recent cuts both manage to find their way back not only to the charts but into the highest tier.
Underwood claims a pair of top 10 hits in America this week. Both of her current smashes appear inside the uppermost region on one list apiece, and they don’t land on the same ranking, as she’s found success in different genres in only the past few months.
“I’m Gonna Love You,” Underwood’s duet with Cody Johnson, is back on the Digital Song Sales chart. This week, the two country musicians bring their joint effort back to No. 10 in its fifth frame on the roster of the best-selling tracks in the U.S., regardless of genre.
At the same time, she reappears in the same slot on another related list. “Leave a Light On (Talk Away the Dark)” with Papa Roach blasts back onto the Rock Digital Song Sales chart, where it settles at No. 10.
Both “I’m Gonna Love You” and “Leave a Light On (Talk Away the Dark)” have already conquered the tallies they return to this week. Underwood added to her ever-growing list of No. 1 smashes when the two tunes enjoyed their initial chart run, weeks apart from one another, and they proved that she can muster a win in more than just country.
Both of those singles appear on more than one chart this week, though they only return to a sole tally. Her Cody Johnson duet is down two pegs on the Hot 100, where it settles at No. 65. Her Papa Roach tune, which raises funds for worthy causes, lifts from No. 6 to No. 5 on the Alternative Digital Song Sales chart—another space where it has previously dominated.
