Apple TV+ has announced Friday, March 14, 2025 as the start date for the upcoming crime drama Dope Thief. The logline: Based on the book by Dennis Tafoya of the same name, Dope Thief follows long-time Philly friends and delinquents who pose as DEA agents to rob an unknown house in the countryside, only to have their small-time grift become a life-and-death enterprise, as they unwittingly reveal and unravel the biggest hidden narcotics corridor on the Eastern seaboard.
Dope Thief is created and executive produced by Peter Craig (The Batman, Top Gun: Maverick), and executive produced by Academy Award-nominee Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Blade Runner) who also directs the first episode.
It stars Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta, Bullet Train), who also serves as executive producer. And the cast includes Wagner Moura (Narcos), Marin Ireland (The Umbrella Academy), Kate Mulgrew (Star Trek: Prodigy), Nesta Cooper (See), Amir Arison (The Blacklist), and Ving Rhames (Mission: Impossible).
Dope Thief hails from Apple Studios, and is a Scott Free Production. Two episodes will drop on Apple TV+ on March 14 followed by new episodes every Friday through April 25. Eight episodes were produced for this first season.
