Speak No Evil—James McAvoy’s hit horror movie—is coming soon to streaming on Peacock.
Written and directed by James Watkins, Speak No Evil opened in theaters on September 13.
The film is a remake of the 2022 Danish horror thriller of the same name directed by Christian Tafdrup and written by Christian Tafdrup and Mads Tafdrup.
The logline for Watkins’ remake of Speak No Evil reads, “A family is invited to spend a whole weekend in a lonely home in the countryside, but as the weekend progresses, they realize that a dark side lies within the family who invited them.”
McAvoy plays Paddy, who along with his wife, Ciara (Aisling Franciosi) and son, Ant (Dan Hough), invite the Daltons—Louise (Mackenzie Davis), Ben (Scott McNairy) and their daughter Agnes (Alix West Lefler)—to their home in the English countryside.

How Did Audiences And Critics Receive ‘Speak No Evil’?
Per The Numbers, Speak No Evil earned $36.9 million domestically and $38.8 million internationally for a worldwide box office gross of $75.7 million against a $15 million production budget before prints and advertising costs.
Rotten Tomatoes critics collectively gave Speak No Evil an 84% “fresh” rating based on 200 reviews.
The RT Critics Consensus reads, “Harnessing sick suspense from the glimmer in James McAvoy’s eye, Speak No Evil is the rare remake that hushes up concerns of “been there, done that.”
Speak No Evil also earned an 84% “fresh” Audience Score on RT based on 2,500-plus verified user ratings.
Richard Roeper is among the top RT critics who gave Speak No Evil a “fresh” rating. In his review for the Chicago Sun Times, Roeper writes, “Speak No Evil eventually goes full-on with the familiar horror movie blood-spattering, but the social satire in that well-executed build-up is the real strength of the film.”
Allison Willmore, however, gave Speak No Evil a “rotten” rating. In her review for New York Magazine/Vulture, Willmore notes, “In the new Speak No Evil, the ineffectual nature of the characters becomes not a shortcoming so much as a teased-out joke … leaving us instead to wince at these bumbling fools as they strive, however poorly, to save themselves.”
